This painting was created just for us. Our paths crossed on a cool fall day at the Eastern Market and we knew she represented so much of what Speak My Peace means to our survivors of domestic violence. “Who said I should bow down and be quiet? Hear me roar!”

To all those who are suffering in silence, you do have the power to control your destiny. Despite what your abuser tells/told you – You are NOT alone. We believe in you and you ARE powerful beyond measure. One breath at a time -one choice at a time- one step at a time you WILL be free again. Peace, love and light💜🦋. ________________________

Each of us has the gift of choice and we aren’t fully living if we let fear steal that freedom. Be bold. Choose. Live!

Am I My Sister’s Keeper? YES I AM.
Domestic Violence (DV) does not discriminate based on one’s age, race, economic status, education level etc – let’s be clear.
Some believe if they have not been physically abused – they are not victims. DV is ugly, oppressive, a thief in the night, cowardly, sneaky, murderous both literally and figuratively.
We have to understand that anything that deprives a sister of her freedom and wellness in her home is just that.
We have to educate ourselves on the reality of DV and all that it entails.
We have to know that we are no one’s property and are free to make our own decisions.
We must NEVER give away our power to simply BE who we are divinely created to be.
Peace, love and light

This year marks the 30th anniversary of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). What started as a Day of Unity evolved into something greater with the courage and commitment of advocates at local, state and national levels.
Today, the battle against domestic violence continues because we are still mourning those who have died at the hands of their abusers; we still have women (and men) who are shamed and suffering in silence as well as advocates operating with minimal resources.
We have come a long way but the finish line is no where in sight. 1 in 4 women being abused in the US is NOT okay. An average of 24 people per minute being victimized via rape, physical violence or stalking by an intimate partner is NOT okay. We can’t stop. We won’t stop. What are you prepared to do?
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. We are committed to ending the silence and empowering victims.
Join our #SpeakMyPeace Challenge to support the cause and remember those who have been forever silenced by this atrocity. Share a picture, poem, affirmation, short story, song etc. with the #SpeakMyPeace and tag us @sistersspeakingserenity

This has been said in many ways but the message is simple. You are either for your wellness and worth or against it. You alone can choose. We hope that you embrace the power that you have to get it. The #Affirmation8 Challenge continues. We love the fact that you can accept your flaws and embrace your awesomeness at the same time. We are ALL beautiful works in progress and the journey is about inner peace not perfection.
Welcome to our #Affirmation8 Challenge. Being your best is all that you can do and it IS enough! Sometimes that “best” fluctuates in different circumstances but if you honor the commitment you’ve made to yourself, your light will always shine.

What is SELF AFFIRMATION and why is it so important?
It is the recognition and assertion of the existence and value of one’s individual self.(Oxford)
It is so important that we take the time to cultivate our thoughts because thoughts produce action. We have the power to produce harmful or healthful thoughts and we invite you to join our #AFFIRMATION8 Challenge!
What are you affirming today? Tag us@SistersSpeakingSerenity with the hashtag #Affirmation8
The goal of this challenge is simply to elevate ourselves one thought at a time. How do we do that?
~ Face the self negative talk we hold/hide and replacing those with the positive opposite. (Yes … write them down)
~ Focus on recognizing all of wonderful things you bring to any table! Make your affirmations brief and easy to remember.
~ Create affirmations using “My” and “I” statements in the present tense (i.e. “I am brilliant and resilient”).
~ Add positive emotion to your affirmation (e.g. joy, gratitude, confidence, contentment, love, pride, awe etc. )
~ Speak your affirmations with love and power every day.
~ Finally, believe and receive what you are affirming.
Peace, Love & Light to all
